Clinique Derma White City Block Anti-Pollution

Posted on

Derma White City Block Anti-Pollution SPF 40 provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and prevents dark spots and discolourations with SPF 40/PA +++ protection. It protects skin’s immunity with updated IPF technology and provides improved makeup priming benefits.

Lightweight. Oil-free.

Derma White Anti-Pollution City Block SPF 40/PA+++ was developed for Asian skins and contains Clinique’s new anti-pollution technology – an invisible pollution filter that acts as an environmental shield against daily exposure to harmful pollutants. The invisible pollution filter is composed of an innovative complex of polymers including Zeolite, Polyethylene, Hexadecene Copolymer and Nylon-12 which forms a micro-fine film over skin to help block the penetration of external assaults.

Sun protection is necessary all year round. 80% of all sun exposure is incidental (happening when you walk the dog, drive in your car or jog in the park). UVB, or ” burning rays ” are strongest in the summer and weakest in the winter; consequently, one sees fewer sunburns in the winter. However, UVA, or ” ageing rays ” are strong all year round. Therefore, skin is as equally susceptible to photo-aging and increased skin cancer risks in the winter and on a cloudy day. It is prudent to wear a sun screen on a daily basis.

External assaults such as pollutants and harmful UV rays can penetrate the skin and cause damage. Pollution increases the level of free radicals produced by the body, which can strain skin’s cells and generate excess production of melanin, resulting in dark spots formation and uneven skin tone.

There is a clear connection between environmental aggressors and hyperpigmentation.  When external assaults such as pollutants and harmful UV rays penetrate the skin, skin becomes irritated, which in turn can trigger excess melanin production.

This new formula goes beyond conventional UV protection with an invisible pollution filter that helps guard against external assaults, including pollutants that can lead to hyperpigmentation.  Additionally, a powerful combination of ingredients acts as a second wave of protection by helping prevent external damage and calming skin from harsh environmental conditions.

A combination of chemical ( Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate and Ethylhexyl Salicylate ) and physical ( Titanium Dioxide ) sunscreens provide multi-dimensional protection and is encapsulated in a floating matrix to avoid contact with skin, helping to reduce the chance of irritation.  Photosomes and Rosemary Leaf Extract help skin visibly repair damage caused by free radicals and pollution while the anti-irritant Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate, in combination with Gentian Extract, a soothing, calming botanical extract, helps protect against irritation and stop the cascade of inflammatory reactions before cells are damaged.

Derma White’s signature whitening technology is also included in the new formula to help diminish dark spots and even skin tone.  This complex helps prevent melanin synthesis from the root of melanosomes to the surface of the skin.  It is composed of Chamomile Extract which inhibits melanin synthesis; Advanced Yeast Blend that brightens the complexion by breaking up existing dark spots; Acetyl Glucosamine restores clarity and evenness of skin tone by speeding the skin’s renewal process.

I  love this new version of Derma White City Block as it’s weightless, non greasy, gentle enough to be used even around my eyes ( not officially recommended by Clinique ), doesn’t smell awful like most sunscreen,  has both physical & chemical sunscreen, offers antioxidants & pollution protection, brightens & clarifies the complexion & could be used as a primer or BB cream ! Yeah, the goodness is as mouthful as its name.
